Dryer Repair

Heating elements, thermal fuses, belts and blocked venting — including the lint build-up that makes a dryer take three cycles to finish.

Sound familiar?

These are the faults we are called out for most often on this appliance. Any of them is worth a phone call.

  • Tumbles but does not heat
  • Takes two or three cycles to dry
  • Squeaking or rumbling
  • Shuts off after a few minutes
  • Drum will not turn

Heating elements, thermal fuses, belts and blocked venting — including the lint build-up that makes a dryer take three cycles to finish.

Lint and debris built up around a dryer drum seal and blower housing
Lint works its way past the filter and packs in around the drum seal. This is what makes a dryer take cycle after cycle.

The outside vent on the same sort of job. If the flap will not open, the dryer cannot exhaust — and that is a fire risk, not just a slow dry.

The same dryer vent, one visit apart

This is an ordinary call-out in Fayetteville — a dryer that had started taking two and three cycles to finish a load.

Before Exterior dryer vent on a brick wall with the louver cover missing and the duct packed solid with lint
Before: the louver cover had broken off and the duct behind it was packed solid. Almost nothing was getting out.
After The same exterior dryer vent after cleaning, with a new white louvered cover fitted and the removed lint piled on the ground below
After: duct cleared and a new louvered cover fitted. The pile on the ground came out of that one vent.

A blocked vent is why a dryer runs hot, takes cycle after cycle and eventually fails early — and it is the reason the fire service treats laundry rooms as seriously as it does.

Questions

The things people ask before they book

Do you charge for the visit?

We will explain any diagnostic charge when you book, before anyone drives out to you. You will never be surprised by a number on the day.

How soon can someone come out?

Call us and we will tell you the soonest we can get to you. We work Monday through Friday, and we will give you a realistic answer rather than one that sounds good on the phone.

Is it worth repairing, or should I replace it?

If the repair costs more than the unit is worth to you, or it is near the end of its service life, we will say so. We would rather lose one job than sell you a repair you regret.

Which brands do you work on?

All the major residential brands. Our technicians are expertly trained across the makes most common in homes around here. If we cannot get a part for your model, we will tell you before you commit to anything.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. We stand behind what we do. We will go over exactly what is covered on your particular repair at the time we give you the price.

What do you work on besides appliances?

We started in appliance repair and still do plenty of it, but we now also handle HVAC, residential electrical work and water filtration. If you are not sure whether something falls to us, just ask.

Which water treatment systems do you install?

We are a licensed Puronics dealer, so we can specify, install, warranty and service their equipment properly — and get genuine media and parts for it years later. We also service and repair water treatment equipment from other manufacturers, including systems we did not install. Either way we test your water first and recommend from the results, not from a catalogue.

Do you work with military families?

Very much so. We are close to Fort Bragg and a good share of our customers are active duty, veterans or military spouses. Tell us your situation when you call — including if you are working around a PCS or a deployment — and we will do what we can to fit around it.
